Thermals: CHO-THERM® – 1674

CHO-THERM® 1674 material is a low-cost, aluminum oxide-filled silicone elastomer designed for applications which require good heat transfer performance and moderate electrical isolation characteristics. Filled with fiberglass cloth gives exceptioanl tear, cut-through and punctures due to burrs and irregular mating surfaces. It's conformability allows easy torquing between metal mating surfaces without tearing, cracking, or overall failure.

Critical Performance Characteristics

There are generally two objectives that must be satisfied in the interface between power semiconductor devices and their heat sinks:
  1. To Enhance the flow of heat from the device to the metal heat sink.
  2. To electrically isolate the device from the metal heat sink.

CHO-THERM 1674 insulators perform both functions simultaneously, effectivly replacing the commonly used combination of ceramic insulators and silicone grease usually required to achieve these objectives in high performance applications.
